long time ago there lived a stone-cutter, who went each day to a huge rock in the side of a big mountain and cut out thick pieces for gravestones or for home. He perfectly understood the types of stones wanted for the different purposes, and as he was a careful workman he had many clients. For a long time he was contented and more or less happy, and didn´t asked for anything better than what he had.

Now in the mountain reside a ghost which sometimes appeared to men, and assisted them in many ways to become rich and prosperous. The stone-cutter, however, had never seen this ghost, and only move his head skeptical, when somebody spoke of it. But a time was coming when he learned to change his opinion.
